Doors, fenders, hoods, bumpers, quarter panels, tailgates and grilles are among the best-value used OEM purchases: original factory sheet metal and plastic, made on the manufacturer's tooling. Speedy's Used Parts is a full-service automotive recycler in Candler, NC, founded in 1980, with 100,000+ used OEM auto parts. Here's how to buy panels that fit.
1. Fitment: year range and body style
- Generation matters more than the exact year. Panels usually fit across a vehicle generation, but mid-cycle refreshes can change fenders, bumpers, grilles and hoods.
- Body style: a 2-door and a 4-door of the same model use different doors. Crew cab, extended cab and regular cab trucks use different doors. Sedan, coupe, hatchback and wagon rear panels differ.
- Side: left (LH) = driver's side; right (RH) = passenger's side.
- Options: bumpers and fenders may have holes or mounts for parking sensors, washers, fog lights, trim or badges. Doors vary by power vs manual windows and locks.
Send your VIN to 828-667-2239 and we'll check the interchange.
2. Paint codes: where to find yours
Your factory paint code is usually on the vehicle certification or service label, most often in the driver's door jamb. Some makes put it under the hood, in the trunk or in the glovebox. It's a short code, not the color name. A used panel in your color may still differ slightly because of fading and age. Under our written policy, paint condition and color aren't guaranteed, so plan for paint matching and blending as part of the repair.
3. Condition and grading
Every panel is graded and photographed on our own lot. Once a panel is pulled, its photos show the actual part you get. A newly arrived vehicle may show photos of the donor vehicle until its parts are pulled and pictured. Look for dents, creases, scratches, rust, and broken clips or mounting tabs. Check whether the listing includes attached parts (glass, mirrors, regulators, handles) or a bare panel. Attached components aren't covered by the warranty.
4. Used OEM vs new aftermarket panels: a fair comparison
- Used OEM: original factory part with factory fit, gaps and mounting points. Condition varies by donor; it may need paint.
- New aftermarket: new, often primed, and widely available for common vehicles. Fit and material can vary by brand. Some aftermarket panels are certified by third parties such as CAPA for fit and quality.
- New OEM (dealer): new factory part, usually the most expensive.
We sell recycled OEM parts only. We don't sell new aftermarket parts.
5. Shipping large panels
We ship to the lower 48 states. Under our shipping policy, doors, body panels, roofs, glass roof panels and bumpers ship by LTL freight. At checkout, choose:
- Business address: a commercial address with a dock or forklift.
- Residential with liftgate: a separate shipping option with its own price, shown at checkout before you pay.
Some oversized items (truck cabs, frames, pickup beds, complete vehicles) are local pickup only and can't be shipped. Free local pickup is available on every part at 404 Starnes Cove Rd, Candler, NC 28715, Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM.
Most in-stock orders ship the next business day. Oversized items, freight shipments, special orders and parts that need extra preparation may take longer. Delivery time depends on the carrier.
When freight arrives, inspect it before you sign. Note any damage with the driver on the delivery receipt, take photos, and contact both the carrier and us at 800-222-5414 right away. Once a part is in the carrier's hands, damage in transit is a claim against the carrier. Details are in our Shipping Policy.
6. Warranty
All parts include our standard 90-day parts-only warranty, subject to the exclusions in our warranty policy. The 90 days run from your invoice date, unless your invoice states otherwise. Labor, including body and paint work, isn't covered. Paint condition and color aren't guaranteed. Full terms: Returns & Warranty Policy.
